ACCUPLACER QAS Practice Test
Updated October 27, 2026
The ACCUPLACER Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) test has 20 questions. It’s roughly Algebra I level, plus some statistics, probability and geometry, and it’s often used to place students into college algebra or statistics courses. Like every ACCUPLACER test, it’s computer-adaptive, and only some questions give you an on-screen calculator. Try the free questions below.
What QAS covers
- Rational numbers, ratios and proportions, and exponents
- Algebraic expressions, linear equations and word problems
- Probability and descriptive statistics (mean, median, range)
- Basic geometry concepts

A bag has 3 red, 5 blue and 2 green marbles. What is the probability of drawing a blue marble?Answer: CThere are 3 + 5 + 2 = 10 marbles and 5 are blue, so the probability is 5/10 = 1/2.
-
Simplify: (2x³)(3x²)Answer: DMultiply the numbers (2 × 3 = 6) and add the exponents of x (3 + 2 = 5): 6x⁵.
-
The data set is 4, 7, 7, 9, 13. What is the median?Answer: AThe values are already in order, and the middle value is 7. (The mean is 40 ÷ 5 = 8.)

A map scale shows 1 inch = 25 miles. Two towns are 3.5 inches apart on the map. How far apart are they?Answer: CMultiply: 3.5 × 25 = 87.5 miles.
-
Which equation represents the line with slope 3 that passes through (0, −2)?Answer: ASlope-intercept form is y = mx + b. The slope m is 3, and the line crosses the y-axis at −2, so y = 3x − 2.
-
A phone plan costs $20 a month plus $5 for each extra gigabyte. Last month the bill was $45. How many extra gigabytes were used?Answer: BSet up 20 + 5g = 45. Subtract 20: 5g = 25. Divide by 5: g = 5.
